    But in the Song "When Joseph went to Bethlehem" it say
    "He urged the donkey forward, then, with Mary on its back"
    And several pictures the the church has, Mary is riding a donkey.

  18. The Bible doesn’t specifically say, but Mary most likely rode a donkey because of the distance and hilly countryside, while Joseph would have walked.
